Bathroom Installation

In accordance with the IEE Wiring Regulations, the bathroom is considered as a special location installation. Locations containing a bath or shower are divided into zones (0 to 3). Simplified figure below best illustrates this concept.

Bathroom Zones

Zone 0

Considered to be inside of the bath tub or the shower basin. For this zone, equipment rated at IPX7 should be used as a minimum. The equipment has to be SELV at a nominal voltage of 12 V a.c.

Zone 1

Circumscribing the bath or shower basin in the vertical plane and 2.25 metres above the floor level. For this zone, equipment rated as IPX4 to IPX5
Low voltage lighting and extractor fans are allowed
Bonding is required
